Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) permanently reduces energy costs for low-income households by increasing the energy efficiency of homes while ensuring residents’ health and safety. The program offers energy efficiency services that are custom tailored to your home, helping you save as much money as possible.

  • Free Smoke Detectors

  • Free Carbon Monoxide Detectors

  • Please Note: The Weatherization Assistance Program does not include funding for structural (roofs, windows, doors), plumbing, or electrical repairs. To clarify, this is not an emergency or a home repair program.

HOME ELIGIBILITY

(Determined during the Home Assessment)
  • Home is not eligible for Weatherization if it was weatherized in the past 15 years
  • Home cannot be weatherized if it has one or more of the following deferral reasons:
    – Roof is damaged
    Asbestos
    Active knob & tube wiring
    – Visible mold or standing water in the basement
    – Major areas of infiltration (missing drywall, windows, etc.)

     

  • Client must provide access to their basement and attic in order to receive Weatherization services

  • Please note: Weatherization is a multi-step process that can take several months to complete.
