On Wednesday, October 9th, the agency participated in Chrysler's United Way Kick-off at their world headquarters in Auburn Hills. Nearly 4,000 Chrysler employees were present at the event. Chrylser CEO, Sergio Marchionne, as well United Way CEO, Michael Brennen spoke of the importance of the United Way Campaign and its impact on communities in southeast Michigan.
Wayne Metro was one of just six organizations invited to be on-site at the kick-off event. Through the United Way Campaign, employees are able to designate a local organization that they would like to support through payroll deductions. Agency representatives were on hand to speak to Chrysler employees about Wayne Metro's Youth and Family Programs as well as how their donations could impact the agency.
In addition, nearly 150 Chrysler employees participated in a service project while at the event. Volunteers stuffed items into hygiene kits for low-income individuals. Volunteers stuffed 10,000 hygiene kits to be distributed to agencies in southeast Michigan. Wayne Metro and the Out-Wayne County Homeless Services Coalition was proud to be selected as one of the organizations to receive these valuable donations. Kits will be distributed through the Homeless Coalition's member agencies.
