Wayne Metro in partnership with the Regional Advisory Councils is proud to announce the 2023 Seeding Wayne County Grant Cohort. Together we have awarded 65 grassroots organizations with grants averaging $6,300 to implement projects in the following impact areas:
- Neighborhood improvements
- Job readiness
- Health and nutrition.
Seeding grants support the work of local leaders who respond to the emerging needs of their community. Altogether these grants total an investment of $400,000 in community based initiatives (just in 2023 alone!). Each year we are moving closer and closer to the half a million dollar mark!
Wayne Metro continues to increase funding for Seeding Wayne County because we believe that funding grassroots efforts is critical to sustainable community transformation. Simply put, those closest to the issues have the best solutions. We also believe in participatory grantmaking practice that puts decision making in the hands of residents who are impacted by the decisions being made.
Seeding is a unique federal grant program that allows community members to decide where federal dollars go in their community. Each February, Wayne Metro’s Regional Advisory Councils gather to review and score the applications submitted within their region. This year, Wayne Metro RACS reviewed and scored over 130 applications! Thank you to our volunteer members who sit on our Regional Advisory Councils and congratulations to our sixty-five Grantees.
