“Wayne Metro is always looking for more opportunities to help support the residents of Highland Park. Through the MSHDA Neighborhood Enhancement Program, that is exactly what we’re doing.
Highland Park is frequently overlooked in the Metro Detroit area when it comes to grant funding. Although Detroit and Highland Park residents share many of the same challenges, Highland Park’s residents often receive just a fraction of the support when compared to Detroit’s. Wayne Metro is trying to change this.
Using the $50,000 granted to us through the Neighborhood Enhancement Program, Wayne Metro was able to repair or replace the porches of eight Highland Park residents. Residents received an average of just under $5,900 dollars in repair work for each home. These repairs not only beautified the neighborhood, but also improved the lives of residents like Carolyn Easterly.”
