Homeless Youth Education Project

Wayne Metro Homeless Youth

Through Wayne Metro’s Homeless Youth Education Project, homeless children and youth of Wayne County receive support, resources, and high-quality educational experiences that are designed to equal or surpass regular school programs. Students are referred from School District Homeless Liaisons and Community Partners.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

Students must meet the McKinney-Vento Definition of Homelessness

If your child is part of the program, you can be sure that they will not fall behind in their education and development due to homelessness. Also, you too can take advantage of some great programs and services that can truly help you and your family advance and reclaim independence and self-sufficiency!

For education professionals, the Homeless Youth Education Project provides specialized training and technical assistance.

If you are a teacher, school administrator, or homeless liaison, the Project offers services on topics such as:

  • Identifying homeless and marginally-housed children
  • Developing budget guidelines and appropriate usage of funds
  • Coordinating client transportation
  • Providing links to other resources to fight homelessness, and additional social service agencies

For more information about the Homeless Youth Education Project and other homeless services, please contact the Wayne Metro Connect Center.
