2017 Homeless Awareness Week
Week of November 12 – 18, 2017
Homeless Awareness Week highlights efforts to end homelessness across the nation. Wayne Metro is the lead agency for the Out-Wayne County Homeless Services Coalition working to end homelessness in metro Detroit.
Winter Coat Collection
Please donate Winter Coats at Wayne Metro’s Detroit or Wyandotte offices or STEP Thrift Store locations http://stepcentral.org/locations-2/ (make sure to tell STEP Thrift Store the donation is for Project Connect). Winter Coat Collection for Project Homeless Connect goes through Monday November 6.
Winter Coats will be turned into STEP Thrift Stores to get vouchers for Project Connect attendees that they can then use at the stores.
Wednesday, November 15th – Project Homeless Connect
Project Homeless Connect is a one-stop-shop that connects people experiencing homelessness with the care they need to break down barriers and move forward. Project Homeless Connect collaborates with volunteers, businesses, and organizations to provide comprehensive services for those who are at risk of becoming homeless, are currently homeless or are transitioning from shelter to permanent housing. This event features basic needs such as haircuts, clothing, and toiletries, along with access to much needed services. Project Homeless Connect will take place at Our Lady of the Angels church in Taylor from 10 am – 2:15 pm.
