COVID-19 PROGRAM UPDATES & RESOURCES

  • Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order (EO 2020-21) on March 23rd, directing all Michigan businesses and operations to temporarily suspend in-person operations that are not necessary to sustain or protect life. Click here for more information.

  • DDOT will be reducing its weekday schedule and suspending some its “express” routes. Service will be maintained Monday through Friday on a standard Saturday schedule. Weekend service will not change at this time. Click here to view the full DDOT schedule.

  • All Wayne Metro Head Start and 21st Century programs and sites will be closed through April 6th. Click here to view an up-to-date list of Wayne County Meal Resources during the COVID-19 crisis.

  • The Detroit Water & Sewerage Department (DWSD) continues to work diligently to restore home water services. Click here to visit the City of Detroit’s “Coronavirus COVID-19 Water Restart Plan” page. Instructions for your water turn on service can be downloaded by clicking here.

  • DTE & Consumers Energy are suspending all shutoffs for low income customers and seniors. You can read Michigan Radio’s coverage on this update by clicking here.

  • The Wayne County Treasurer and United Housing Coalition offices are closing. The deadline for filing Property Tax Exemption applications has been extended to May 13th (from March 28th). For more information about Wayne County Tax Exemption Programs, click here.

  • Comcast has announced that their Internet Essentials program will increase speeds from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all customers. Also, new customers will receive two months of FREE service. Click here for more details.

  • All Wayne Metro in-person tax preparation services have been suspended until further notice. Tax clients will receive a text or call when services can resume.
