Wayne Metro has recently dropped the sales price to $90,000 for two homes in Canton Township that we rehabilitate through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. Through Wayne Metro’s NSP Program, low-income individuals and families can achieve homeownership in a safe and affordable home.
The Neighborhood Stabilization Program helps to strengthen communities through the demolition or rehabilitation of abandoned, vacant or foreclosed homes. Homes are then sold to low and moderate income families.
Wayne Metro’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program supports and revitalizes communities through the rehabilitation of blight properties while also assisting low-income families achieve homeownership. To date, Wayne Metro has successfully rehabilitated 37 homes in Canton, Ecorse, Lincoln Park and River Rouge.
To qualify for either of the rehabilitated homes in Canton Twp., individuals or families must meet income guidelines (see below), take part in a 8 hour Homebuyer Club class, be pre-qualified for a mortgage and have $1,500 for a down payment. Persons that are early on in the homebuyer process can work with an Agency Housing Counselor to create a plan to become mortgage ready. Wayne Metro can also provide down payment and closing costs assistance for eligible homebuyers to make the homes affordable.
Number of Members Annual Income
Through the various incentives offer, a family of two, with a household income of $23,500 could potentially achieve homeownership through the Agency’s Homebuyer Assistance Program.
