Grand Prize
There is a grand prize of a $500 Travel Voucher for the individual walker who turns in the highest amount in pledges over $1,000 on the morning of the Walk.
Raising funds for the Walk for Warmth
As a Walk for Warmth participant, you can set a personal fundraising pledge goal and ask your family, friends, and colleagues to sponsor you.
You have two options for collecting pledges this year.
1. You can collect pledges in the form of cash and checks using the paper pledge form that can be downloaded by clicking here.
2. You can create a free Online Fundraising Page using a simple template and send it to family and friends with a personal message to ask for support for the Walk for Warmth. Through this method, your supporters can sponsor you through a credit card payment on a secure donation page. Research shows that online fundraising pages help raise more money than traditional methods. To set up your own personal fundraising page, go to www.firstgiving.com/waynemetro and click the Get Started button. It only takes a few minutes.

Walk Teams
You can also form a Walk team. Be a team captain - ask your friends and family to join your efforts and have fun! Come up with a catchy team name, wear matching outfits to the event, be creative! There are special prizes for Walk teams including Highest Team Pledge, Largest number of team members, and Catchiest team apparel. Teams can also connect their online fundraising pages at www.firstgiving.com/waynemetro. Teams use a special registration and pledge form for collecting cash and check donations. Fundraising tips
Set a personal fundraising goal. This helps challenge yourself and your potential supporters.
Don’t be shy! Beside telling your family and friends about your fundraising goal, go out into the community and tell others. Usually the most unlikely people become your largest
donors. Remember that it's okay for someone to say "no" and move on.
Remind your potential supporters of the great need in the community. We need the help of as many supporters as possible to ensure that people and families in need will not be turned away.
When asking someone for a pledge, explain why the Walk for Warmth is important to you.
Include your personal Online Fundraising web page address in your email signature.
Myspace.com, Facebook.com, and other social networking site users - include information about the Walk for Warmth in your profile.
