Wayne Metro Distributes 1,100 Turkeys during Thanks Giveaway!

Wayne Metro CEO, Louis Piszker distributed turkeys to families to help celebrate Thanksgiving.
Wayne Metro’s Thanks Giveaway event was a huge success as hundreds of low-income families received a turkey for their family’s Thanksgiving.
Wayne Metro staff distributed 1,100 turkeys during the two day event. Distribution sites for pre-registered families were located in Redford, Hamtramck and Wyandotte. Halal turkeys were also available upon request.
Clients that received a turkey were required to pre-register during one of many processing events held in the weeks prior to the Giveaway. As clients arrived to pick up their turkey, Wayne Metro staff members and volunteers collected their voucher and delivered their turkey to them without having to get out of their car for maximum convenience.
In addition to the friendly faces distributing the turkeys, clients were also greeted by Wayne Metro’s very own turkey. Community Outreach Manager, Shaun Taft designed a special turkey costume and wore it throughout the two-day event to get clients excited about the holidays. The costume was very popular with both children and adults, some even requested their picture with the turkey!
Wayne Metro received a lot of great feedback throughout the event as many clients were unsure if they would be able to afford a turkey for their family this year. Families were very grateful for the assistance and the fun environment in which it was presented. Wayne Metro is proud to serve the communities of Out-Wayne County, making the holiday season a little brighter for families in need of assistance.
