School-Aged Youth Programs
Before & After School Services
Wayne Metro's Before & After School Youth Services provide high quality standards-based academic enrichment activities and opportunities for math, reading and writing skills enhancement during out-of-school time.
These programs are currently available in the following communities and locations:
University of Myersville - Myers Elementary in Taylor

Visger Project Achieve - Ann Visger Elementary School in River Rouge
River Rouge Project Achieve - River Rouge High School in River Rouge
Kid Connections - Allendale Elementary School in Melvindale
K.E.Y. Program - Wayne County Family Center Homeless Shelter in Westland
Wayne Metro is proud to be a part of the Michigan Department of Education 21st Century Learning Centers program. In 2007, Wayne Metro was awarded five year 21st CCLC grants for the the programs at Myers Elementary, Hoover Middle, and West Middle. In 2009, Wayne Metro was awarded additional grants for Truman High School and Kennedy High School in Taylor.
Youth enrolled in each of Wayne Metro's Before & After School programs receive high-quality care and enjoyable activities such as:
- Homework assistance
- Academic tutoring
- Academic lessons linked to school day curriculum
- Literacy support
- Arts and crafts, painting, drawing and more
- Games and recreation
- Sports and other physical activity
- Field Trips
- Computer learning and other technology
