Local Legislators visit FUTURE site of Wayne Metro

Raupp Affordable Housing site

Senator Raymond Basham, Michigan Representative (District 14) Ed Clemente, and City of Melvindale Mayor Valerie A. Cadez gathered with Wayne-Metroplitan Community Action Agency Chief Execuitve Officer Louis Piszker to discuss the need for affordable housing and community development in Out-Wayne County.  The conversation around the issues of affordable housing took place at the site of the Raupp Street Housing Project in Melvindale where two building containing a total of 24 units of permanet, affordable housing will be built.  Demolition of the deteriorating apartments this project will replace took place a week earlier.

Conversations lead to discussion about the importance of ordinance enforcement in our communties as well the need for a shared vision between local and state elected officials.

Wayne-Metropolitan Community Action Agency thanks Sentor Basham, Representative Clemente, and Mayor Cadez for their time and support of the agency and Raupp Street Housing.  Legislative Build Day sets the stage for continued conversations that will support Wayne Metro's efforts to increase the available of affordable housing for Out-Wayne County residents.
