School-Aged Youth Program receives $4,000 grant from Best Buy.

Wayne Metro received $4,000 from Best Buy’s Children’s Foundation to support the agency’s Keeping an Eye on Youth (KEY) Program. The KEY Program provides afterschool and summer programming for homeless youth who reside at the Wayne County Family Center. It is the only program of its kind in the Out-Wayne County area. Over 100 youth per year are served by KEY.
KEY Participants enjoy opportunities for:
- Homework assistance;
- Creative activities;
- Self-guided learning including reading for pleasure;
- Community involvement;
- Leadership and positive youth development;
- Life skills education including manners, hygiene, and drug and violence prevention;
- Stability and safety;
- Positive adult role models in a caring environment;
- Physical activity and nutrition awareness; and
- Respite from the stresses and worries of homelessness

The Best Buy’s Children’s Foundation strengthens communities through national, regional and local grantmaking programs. The goal of the Local Giving Program is to provide positive experiences that will help youth excel in school, engage in their communities and develop leadership skills. Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency is proud to partner with Best Buy to advance the agency's mission of offering high quality services to homeless families in Out-Wayne County.
