Coalition Recognizes Partners and Clients during Homeless Awareness Week 2008



                                                   Wayne County Home Coalition

The Out-Wayne County Homeless Services Coalition honored several outstanding partners and clients during a Homeless Awareness Week Recognition Breakfast. Coalition members were given the opportunity to nominate community partners or clients who had made significant strides in overcoming homelessness.

The Coalition recognized six outstanding partners that have put forth an exceptional effort in helping homeless individuals with Champion of the Cause Awards.

                          Yvette Roome, Hickory Green Apartments

                           Bonnie Roberts, Taylor Park Apartments

                            Maria Mitter, Wayne-Westland Schools

               Shirley McKee, Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency

The Coalition also recognized the achievements of four clients that have made significant strides in overcoming the effects homelessness has had on them with Spirit of Achievement Awards. Each has a truly inspiring story of their battles and triumphs.

The Recognition Breakfast was part of the Coalition's Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness and observation of Michigan's Homeless Awareness Week, November 9-15, 2008. Homeless Awareness Week promotes awareness of the existence of homelessness in our communities, while also, brings organizations and community leaders together to improve delivery of services to the homeless.
